One of two dresses inspired by the life of the poet Emily Dickinson

Emily Dickinson was an American poet who lived through the era of the American Civil War. Dressed in white, she lived in a home surrounded by nature, rarely venturing outside, and continued to write poetry by the light that came through her window.

In her way of life, we sense both a wish to protect the fragile things within her heart from the thorns of the world, and a quiet, almost prayerful desire to remain connected to that world through creative work.

Perhaps these are feelings we all share.
be sensitive & effectual.
They resonate with our own wish to live with sensitivity, weaving connections with others.

Her life became the inspiration for a film and two dresses.

The short poetry film Anata no Inai Yugure ni (At Dusk Without You) features readings of new Japanese translations of Dickinson's poems.

The two dresses, which we named forget me not and touch me not, are made using haute couture techniques.

forget me not evokes the resolve to live in the world as it is.
touch me not evokes the fragility of creating while dreaming of an ideal world.
Each dress was designed around one of these themes.

As you make your way through a world where reality and ideals, happiness and sorrow overlap and shift, may these dresses offer your heart a place of quiet refuge.
